MENTAL PICTURE

Closing my eyes to picture that day in June
You walked with me in the late afternoon
There was a beautiful canal lined with trees
You picked a white flower and gave it to me
I was a buzz from the golden amber drinks
As the sky filled up with warm orange and pinks
We danced on the sidewalk and kissed in the park
Among velvet trees where strangers left their mark
Standing on the bridge we watched the sunset
Estimating the time that you and I had left
The rain started to fall as we tracked our origin
Caught in the rainstorm going to where we've been
You and I kissed as wind and water surrounded
Our bodies and mind with senses overloaded
Droplets sparkled in the silvery street light
Storm music changing our course in the night
I took a mental picture like you told me to do
To gaze upon it with eyes closed whenever I'm blue
