COPE WITH WHAT IS HURTING

Clenched jaw too painful to move
helps close on the dumb expressions
that wants to escape.
It's a bad thing that it hurts.
It's a good thing that it's there.
It's a fine thing that I can cope.
It's a sad thing that I have to draw back in fear.

Shoulder tightness too heavy to lift up
the things I want to carry.
Knees moving too stiff to dance
like there's never a hurry.
Hands trembling too fast to get a grip
on the one thing I desire.
Eyes too teary to see the things
I left behind in the fire.

Twisted necks too painful to turn
helps keep me ever present
in the face of madness.
It's a bad thing that it hurts.
It's a good thing that it's there.
It's a fine thing that I can cope.
It's a sad thing that I have to pull back in fear.

Help with what's too heavy to lift up
It's me I want you to carry.
Move me when it's too stiff to dance
Love me, there's never a hurry.
Steady me when I go too fast to get a grip
You are the thing I desire.
Explain when it's too teary to see the things
You are creating with your fire.

Hope is sometimes too painful to have
may be the thing to save me
when I want to quit.
It's a bad thing that it hurts.
It's a good thing that it's there.
It's a fine thing that I can cope.
It's a sad thing that I have to live in constant fear.
